Updated August 14 with more details on the complete schedule, including what’s coming, when it’s coming, and why early invites shouldn’t be trusted.

In just under four weeks, the iPhone 17 series will be officially unveiled. Apple is expected to host its keynote on Tuesday, September 9, revealing the new hardware lineup. However, a fresh date has now been added to the timeline. The full schedule is available below, along with a detailed breakdown. In the meantime, a supposed keynote invite has surfaced — but it’s almost certainly a fake.

It’s important to note that the iPhone won’t be the only highlight of the keynote. Apple is widely expected to unveil two new Apple Watch models — the Series 11 and Apple Watch Ultra 3 — and possibly an updated version of AirPods Pro. These products are likely to be announced alongside the iPhone and share the same release date.

Apple iPhone 17 Release Date: A New Addition to the Timeline

Mark Gurman’s Bloomberg Power On newsletter is always packed with intriguing insights. In its latest edition, he highlighted something missing from previous release date discussions. While much attention has been given to the keynote date, the on-sale date, and even the moment the keynote date itself will be revealed (all detailed below, down to the exact minute), there’s been little mention of the release date for iOS 26.

I believe this year’s public release of iOS 26 will closely follow Apple’s usual pattern, arriving around 10 a.m. Pacific on Monday, September 15 — or, less likely, on Tuesday, September 16.

My bet is on Monday, given the high anticipation surrounding the software and the fact that it already appears to be in excellent shape. That’s the date worth circling in your calendar, unless Apple announces otherwise during the keynote. I’ll update this post the moment the release date is officially confirmed.

iPhone 17 Release Date: Complete Timeline

Here’s the expected schedule based on current information. As soon as Apple confirms any of these dates, I’ll update this list.

Keynote Announcement:

Expected around 8 a.m. Pacific on Tuesday, August 26, when Apple typically sends out email invites to select press and special guests. The exact timing may vary by about an hour — and in rare cases, invites could arrive a day earlier.

A supposed invite has already “leaked,” but it’s almost certainly fake. While the time, date, and location match expectations, the design is unconvincing. Apple is famously detail-obsessed, but I doubt they went through 87 drafts for this one.

Keynote Event:
Scheduled for 10 a.m. Pacific, Apple’s standard slot for Cupertino presentations. This year, it’s expected on Tuesday, September 9, and the likelihood of a change now seems extremely small.

Pre-Orders Open:
If Apple sticks to tradition, pre-orders will begin at 8 a.m. Pacific on Friday, September 12.

First Reviews:
Likely to appear on Tuesday, September 16 or Wednesday, September 17, around 6 a.m. Pacific / 9 a.m. Eastern / 2 p.m. UK, though the timing could shift later in the day.

On-Sale Date:
The iPhone 17 series should officially launch on Friday, September 19 at 7 a.m. local time. That means the first excited customers spotted leaving Apple Stores — clutching their new iPhones — will be in Australia and New Zealand, followed by Europe, then the United States.
